May 11, 2021I honestly don't consider that FF 1 needs any more comprehensive upgrading in restoration, I have the 2018 edition and comparing it with the original issues printed in the 60s or the original art pages that circulate on internet it looks pretty good. I don't know about the restoration - have there been many other significant examples of additional restoration for Omnibuses after the end of the MMW TPB line? In any case if/when it happens I'm sure that Cory will say so here. Epic Collections too, and how big the current demand is though.
However, it could well come back earlier because there aren't really any rules on what and when something will be reprinted these days but you'd have to balance that against its availability in other formats e.g. Well there was a five year gap between the 2nd & 3rd printing so normally I'd have expected the same again. 2-4 dropping soon, and this year marking the FF’s 60th anniversary that some news about either a new restoration or another reprint of the existing one hasn’t surfaced yet. I also presumed that the 2018 printing combined with the fact that it only fairly recently (3rd-4th Quarter 2020) went OOP were the initial reasons why they chose to delay any reprinting, but I’m still if only slightly more surprised that between its extreme popularity, the exponential increase in popular omni demand over the past year, Vol. Incidentally that would be the fourth printing. However, Marvel are hinting that the new FF film will come out in 2023 which would be a good time for a reprint. It was last reprinted in 2018 so I wouldn't expect it back so soon anyway. 1 reprint, which has to be impending, also hasn’t yet been announced, and why it wasn’t included as a choice on Omar’s Most Wanted Marvel Omni Reprints spreadsheet?
